5:30 pm Registration & Social Hour

6:15 pm Dinner

6:30 pm Organizational Business & Program

Place: Greenville Marriott Hotel on The Parkway

Program: “Best Practices in Talent Management Strategy” (HRCI Recertification Credit)

BEST PRACTICES IN TALENT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY Do you have a comprehensive strategy in place to meet your critical talent requirements over the next five or ten years?  If not, you are probably as concerned as the CEOs in many surveys who worry that they will not have the talent they need to compete in today’s global economy.  In this presentation, you will explore the main demographic and other drivers of today’s fierce competition for critical talent, the six components of an integrated talent management strategy, and some tactics for making this strategy a real priority at your organization.  You will also look at two best practices case studies – SAS and Southwest Airlines.

Speaker: Sandy L. Boost, SPHR, CAE Business Manager, SHRM Member Services Division

Sandy joined the Member Relations Team at SHRM in April, 1995 after more than 15 years as a human resource practitioner.  Her most recent position was as Director of Compensation and Benefits for St. Joseph Hospital & Health Center in Lorain, OH.  In April, 2005, Sandy accepted the position of Business Manager for the Member Services Division.

As the Business Manager, Sandy is responsible for the management of Division administrative support, coordinates activities related to key business processes/procedures, and acts as liaison with the Information Technology Department.  Four departments make up the Member Services Division at SHRM:  Member Relations, Member Special Programs, International Programs, and the Customer Service Center.

She has years of experience as a volunteer leader.  Among those, Sandy served as vice president, president, and past president of the Greater Lorain County Chapter -- the SHRM affiliated chapter in Lorain/Elyria, OH.  She served as the national Director of Public Relations for the former International Association of Personnel Women (IAPW) and held local, regional, and national leadership roles for Kappa Delta Sorority.

Sandy is a graduate of the University of Toledo in Toledo, OH, holding both BBA and MBA degrees.  She has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 1992 and attained her certification as an association executive (CAE) in June, 2001.
